Ozone Shock Treatment

Rectangular metal electronic device with fan and controls.

What is an Ozone Shock Treatment?

An ozone shock treatment is a professional odor removal process that uses ozone (O₃) gas to help neutralize stubborn odors that have been absorbed into building materials, furnishings, and fabrics. Unlike air fresheners or masking agents, ozone reacts with odor-causing compounds at a molecular level, helping to eliminate the source of many persistent smells.

Ozone shock treatments can be effective for removing odors caused by:

  • Cigarette and tobacco smoke
  • Pet odours
  • Cooking odours
  • Musty or stale air
  • Fire and smoke damage
  • General household odors

Quantum Property Inspections provides professional ozone shock treatments for homes, rental properties, garages, and other residential spaces.

How Does Ozone Shock Treatment Work?

During an ozone treatment, a commercial-grade ozone generator produces ozone gas that circulates throughout the property. The ozone reaches areas that are difficult to clean by conventional methods, helping to break down many odor-causing contaminants.

The property must be completely unoccupied during the treatment, as ozone is not safe to breathe at the concentrations used for shock treatment. Once the treatment is complete, the property is ventilated until ozone levels have returned to safe levels before re-entry.

What to Expect

Before treatment, we'll discuss the source of the odor and determine whether ozone treatment is the right solution. In some cases, removing the source of the odor—such as smoke-damaged materials, pet contamination, or moisture problems—is necessary before treatment can be fully effective.

Our ozone shock treatment includes:

  • Assessment of the affected areas.
  • Professional placement and operation of commercial ozone equipment.
  • Guidance on preparing the property before treatment.
  • Safe ventilation procedures following treatment.
  • Recommendations if additional cleaning or remediation is required.

Important Information

While ozone shock treatment is highly effective at reducing or eliminating many persistent odors, results depend on the source and severity of the odor. Ozone treatment cannot repair damage or permanently eliminate odors if the underlying source remains, such as active mold growth, ongoing moisture intrusion, or contaminated building materials.

If needed, we can also recommend additional inspection or remediation services to help address the root cause of the problem.
